The American Land Title Association (ALTA)  and the National Society of Professional Land Surveyors (NSPS) have put forth strict standards for conducting these specialized Boundary Surveys  for the purposes of insuring title to land.

Some of the data to be collected and represented on the finalized Plat Map include, but are not limited to: boundary lines and corners, rights of way and access, relevant utilities, water features, street names, physical address, structures, easements, and improvements along boundaries for example.
